SMI – Centre for Water in the Minerals Industry

The Centre for Water in the Minerals Industry conducts research towards achieving sustainable water management in the mining industry. We aim to develop key technologies for the measurement, monitoring and modelling of water in the context of mine operations, their surrounding environments and regional communities.

Our Capabilities

CWiMI's core competencies cover a wide range of disciplines, focusing on improving water management at many levels.

Collaboration

CWiMI collaborates on cross-disciplinary projects with other centres within the SMI, as well as with government and industry.

Research

CWiMI conducts research towards achieving sustainable water management in the mining industry, both within Australia and internationally.
